Project: Rennovation of Space at 4519 Rhode Island Avenue

The Prince Georges African American Museum and Cultural Center is soliciting bids for the renovation of their office building at 4519 Rhode Island Avenue, North Brentwood, Maryland. This one story structure contains approximately 4,000 square feet of space. The work in general consists of demolition of existing interior walls, construction of new walls, utilities, restrooms, windows, ceiling, flooring, etc. All work must be accomplished in accordance with the architects plans and specifications. The base bid includes renovation of approximately eighty percent of the building with one additive for renovation of the remaining twenty percent of the building. The period of performance for the work is not to exceed 120 days. A performance bond for completion of the work is required. The estimated cost of this work is between $250,000 and $325,000. Interested contractors may obtain copies of the computer disc containing the drawings from the museum office located at 10201 Martin Luther King Jr. Highway, #260, Bowie, Maryland, 20720-4005 (301-809-0440) between the hours of 9am and 2 PM, Monday – Friday, for a non-refundable fee of $20 per disc. A pre-bid walk through will be held on July 14, 2011 at 9 AM at the project site, 4519 Rhode Island Avenue, North Brentwood, Maryland, for interested bidders. Sealed bids are to be delivered to the museum office no later than 2 PM on 29 July 2011. Contract award is anticipated no later than 5 August. As a result,sealed bids will be due to the PGAAMCC's Administrative Offices, 10201 Martin Luther King, Jr., Highway, Suite 260, Bowie, MD 20720 by 2 PM, Friday, August 12, 2011.
With this change, we anticipate an award date of Friday, August 19, 2011.

Their recommendation will forwarded to the Full Board for final approval. We anticipate final approval by August 26th, 2011. At that time, the company selected will be notified.
